Despite the death of Ktaro Miura on May 20, 2022, Berserk will not remain unfinished. The author's masterpiece, one of the most influtial sein in history, will be resumed soon by Kouji Mori, mangaka and close frid of Ktaro Miura. This has be confirmed by Young Animal, the magazine in which the series has be published, where the following statemt has be published:
Before his passing, Ktaro Miura spoke to his close frid Kouiji Mori about the stories and episodes he had in mind for Berserk”, reads the press release. “He also had similar talks with his studio staff and editor. He wondered, would everyone be surprised if I drew something like this? How about a character like this? Would this storyline be interesting?”

“The talks were not meant as his last words, but were a part of his ordinary days as a manga artist”, it continued. “Such ordinary days continued for more than a quarter of a ctury. Our minds and hearts are still filled with the thoughts Mr. Miura shared with us during that time. We have also found memos of ideas he wrote and designs for characters that he drew and left behind. We were reluctant to d his story without sharing these with his fans.”
“Since he did not leave behind rough drafts, it is impossible for us to create a manuscript exactly in the way he would have intded. However, we will write the manga so as not to deviate from Mr. Miura’s own words, ” it continues. “We believe that his policy, although imperfect, is the best way to deliver the Berserk that Mr. Miura visioned to everyone as faithfully as possible.”

Berserk' Manga Will Continue On Following Kentaro Miura's Death
“Nearly 30 years ago, Miura called me and said, ‘I need to talk to you about drawing a rough draft.’ I wt to his workplace just to talk as we always do, but Miura looked more serious than usual. I ssed it would be hard work, but couldn’t believe it wh I was trapped indoors for a week… In that very momt, the storyline for Berserk was completed, until the very last chapter. Strangely, the story for Berserk wt on exactly as we discussed at the time, with almost no changes.
“I think people with good intuition would realize by now that I know the story for Berserk up to the very d. Still, I cannot say that I can draw it because I know it. That is because only the gius Ktaro Miura can write a masterpiece like Berserk. It is too big a responsibility. I thought, should I talk to fans about it through an interview? Or should I publish an article with some illustrations? But that wouldn’t convey the sces that Miura described to me, or the lines of Guts and Griffith…”
“Just wh I was trying to decide what to do, I received a message. ‘The staff are saying they will finish the last chapter that was left behind, so can you take a look?’ The last few pages of the chapter were incomplete. Some did not ev have the characters drawn on them. Desperation can push people to create miracles — There it was, the completed manuscript for Berserk. ‘Mr. Mori, will you let us do it?’ Miura’s apprtices, who Miura had be so proud of while he was alive, asked me straight. I thought, if I run away now, Miura would say: ‘I talked to you about it so much, but you didn’t do it!!’ Alright. I’ll do it properly.”

Following the death of its creator, the late Kentaro Miura, confusion has arisen in the anime community about the status of the manga. Fans wonder about the future of the story and the continuation of the series in the absence of the mastermind behind the panels.
Manga has technically not ended yet. Although its mangaka Kentaro Miura passed away in 2021, he had no plans of concluding the manga. However, his untimely demise left the saga unfinished and fans were certain that it was the end of the line for the epic journey of the celebrated protagonist Guts.

It has been decided that Koji Mori will work on the next Arcs in the story. Koji Mori played a seminal role in publishing the posthumous 364th chapter of
Mori, in association with Miura’s colleagues and assistants, said that they will pick the manga up where it was left off and make sure to do justice to Miura’s vision.
Mori and the team at Studio Gaga, who is responsible for the illustration of the reboot, stated that they will draw inspiration from the content that Miura left behind. This includes character designs and a memorandum.
Will “berserk' By Kentaro Miura Have An End?
Mori happens to be the only person to whom Miura has previously relayed the ending of the narrative that he had dreamt of. Mori wishes to see it through and be faithful to his late colleague and friend.
When asked about his creative process going into the project, Mori stated that he will honor Miura’s wishes regarding the story and will not stray one bit from it. He was reported saying:
I will only write the episodes that Miura talked to me about. I will not flesh it out. I will not write episodes that I don't remember clearly. I will only write the lines and stories that Miura described to me.
My Initial Idea Was...
, which is part of the ongoing Fantasia Arc. The final published chapter, up until the news of the manga’s renewal, saw Casca’s memories come back to her. Following this, she couldn't bear to look at Guts as he reminded her of Griffith, the prime antagonist of the story.
Chapter 364 thus would have been a very bleak ending indeed, something that fans believed fit well with the dark ambiance of the narrative.
Still has a lot to offer and can't wait to see how the story concludes. However, there are others that believe that Miura’s absence from the creative process will deeply affect the flow and might end up being a disappointment.Miura's close friend, Kouji Mori – the only person he told Berserk's story to from start to finish – will take over the series and write only what Miura told him without any supplementary or filler stories.
Berserk: What We Know About The Manga's Posthumous Finale
In a statement offered on Twitter, the Berserk team saidMori has the full support of both the manga's publishing company Young Animal and the team of assistants that supported Miura on Berserk, though it's currently unclear how much more of Berserk (which began running in 1989) will be released.
Miura died suddenly from acute aortic dissection, a tear in the aorta branching off from the heart, on May 6, 2021, leaving Berserk unfinished and in the middle of an ongoing story arc.
The series will resume in the next issue of Young Animal's magazine, and the next six chapters will conclude the Fantasia Arc. A new arc will begin after this, and though the publisher calls this period of Berserk the last episode that we have put together, it didn't say how long the story will go on for, or if this new arc will be the final one.
