If you were looking for something light and breezy for the weekend here are a few dramas that fit the bill. Each pairing has their unique chemistry, each story takes a different angle at approaching what makes a fantastic romantic comedy. Like the best romantic comedies they start easy and finish smooth with lots of laughs in between.
I’m not even sure why I fell for this silly rom-com with identical twins switching identities and forced cohabitation with the coolest, hottest boy in college. Luo Zheng is handsome and deadly detached and Ji Mei Han is bumbly and adorable. A perfect rom-com couple. Their bickering is entertaining and she disrupts his perfect life and makes him realize what he has been missing. The episodes are silly and their troubles are flimsy and before you know it happily ever after is in our sights.
Set in the e-sports world of League of Legends style gaming, Tong Yao becomes the first female player to join a professional competition team. Whether it is proximity or personality, the team captain, Lu Sicheng, starts falling for her. Xu Kai is the perfect arrogant, detached male lead. Falling uses standard story elements but executes them well and is incredibly easy to watch. While not high octane or overtly dramatic, the drama starts and finishes smoothly, leaving the viewer behind with a good impression and a smile.
Breezy Romances To While Away A Weekend
A famous actress contrives to romance her first high school crush. She inveigles him to coach her on an online game she sponsors. He rejected her back in high school but as they spend time together gaming he starts falling for her. The call of his high octane profession as an aerospace engineer and his own feelings of inadequacies pulls him away from her. Eventually, their mutual attraction and commitment to a mature relationship let them overcome their difficulties and be happy together. Like many Gu Man stories this drama is super sweet without a lot of depth. The casting of Yang Yang and Dilreba create a perfectly beautiful pair. Mostly light and airy the drama does run longer than needed but delivers lots of fan service.
Another contract marriage romantic comedy, a dime a dozen, but this one is a winner with suave Wang Ziqi and the fast, fluid sequences that set up the contract and get our fair couple under the same roof and happily bickering away. They both throw themselves into the conceit and like all contract rom-coms they rapidly become enthralled with each other. The writers use old school plot tricks, an evil rival with underhanded schemes, and a childhood suitor who doesn’t know the game is done to drive the drama to the end. Meanwhile, there is plenty of comedy and tension in play with the mother in law gambit and the adorable grandmother meddling but nothing too surprising disrupts our couple from sailing away into happiness.
Rosy is her regular fabulous self while Liu Te is new, a little awkward and quite elegant. The first half feels like a remake of Frog Prince from old. Rich guy has a car accident and “forgets” who he is and is picked up by a young hardworking girl. He moves in with her and they have lots of fun and funny moments trying to adjust while falling in love. There are madcap and memorable moments as he adjusts to the plebeian life. If only the entire drama was the two of them in the little apartment futzing around it would have made my top 10 for the year. The second half when we learn he’s faking his memory loss and needs to win his family’s business and her love becomes lack luster and frustrating. Enjoy the hijinks of the first half and fast forward through the second half to a well deserved happy ending.Let me be upfront. I watched Falling Into You (炽道) largely because of Gina Jin. It is simply a pleasure to look at her beautiful face! And her beauty is just perfect for a older woman and younger man romance drama. She is alluring and hence, it is understandable why a young man would fall for her. This would then make the drama relatable to the viewers. So, how sweet is this drama? Mao Qi is a poor kid from the rural area but with a natural talent for high jump. He is a simple-minded and trusting boy.
Luo Na first met Yu Cheng when she was on a recruitment drive for talented athletes at a high school sporting event. She is an assistant coach and postgraduate student at Nanhu University. Yu Cheng is a talented high jumper but coaches often don’t see him as success material in the sport due to his short height. He subsequently enters Nanhu University as a finance student but wants to join their track and field team to be a high jumper.
Falling Into You C Drama Review (2022)
Luo Na fights hard to get him admitted into the university’s high jump team as she has already seen his potential earlier. Yu Cheng who is attracted to Luo Na is happy that she believes in him. However, when another talented high jumper joins the team, Yu Cheng faces a crisis since his own performance has reached a plateau. He is also afraid of losing Luo Na’s attention due to his poor results.
After feeling lost for a short period of time, Yu Cheng resolves to do his best to make Luo Na proud of him. He also courageously makes his intention known and pursues Luo Na. However, she is wary of their age difference and her status as his coach to embark on a relationship with him.Falling Into You 2022 Ending (Spoilers Alert!)
Falling Into You has a happy ending. After the media exposure on his relationship with Luo Na, he is told to take a break from national training. Hence, he lost the chance to represent the country for the Asian Games in the decathlon event. Luo Na then arranged for Yu Cheng to train abroad with her father in the high jump event. He has to overcome the hardship and longing for Luo Na to concentrate on his training. Her fierce father made it hard for Yu Cheng initially with his tough discipline. But Yu Cheng persevered with Luo Na’s encouragement.
Capcut_falling Into Your Smile First Kiss
After a few months, Yu Cheng showed good results and won a few competitions abroad. He decided to return to China after being recalled by the national training camp and his case has been settled. Yu Cheng secretly returned home to surprise Luo Na with a wedding proposal with the help of his friends and teammates. Together with the coaches, they become witnesses to Yu Cheng’s wedding-like marriage proposal which Luo Na excitedly accepts. The last scene is of the group dancing and celebrating the happy occasion on the tracks.When Did The Couple Get Together?
