Alriiight so kimi ni todoke is like the king of shoujo romance i think ahaha. there’s really no other anime like it; the story is just so innocent and cute, and the characters are so lovable and unique! this first gif basically describes the beauty of the anime lol, just all the adorable little moments between sawako and shouta (ﾉ≧∀≦)ﾉ
The anime adaptation was released in 2009, is 38 episodes long, and has been well known in the shoujo world as a staple story. it has a pretty calm vibe, unlike other romantic comedies that are all over the place, but what is really captivating about kimi ni todoke is the design of all the characters. i. love. every. single. one. of. them. ◦°˚(´°౪°`)/˚°◦ sawako is adorable, funny, and sososo innocent, while shouta is suuuper nice and is pretty much “perfect”, though he sometimes shows his uneasy side. all the supporting characters are so unique too, and even after you have finished watching/reading the series and moved onto others, you will never forget each and every one of them!

, and is rumored to be able to talk to ghosts and curse people. shouta on the otherhand, is the most popular and friendly guy who is always surrounded by people and admired. he befriends sawako and shows her that she is capable of making friends, which changes her life as she then befriends yano, yoshida, and ryu. obviously they fall in love with eachother (there’s no spoiler there :P) but sawako struggles to realize how she feels about shouta. although the story isn’t tragic at all, you will end up crying at some point, i guarantee it! the story just tugs at your heart so much and watching sawako overcome the obstacles to express herself is just so gahhhh ;u;
I have only read the first chapter of the manga, so i can’t really say much to compare the two. also, there is a live action movie version, which i appreciated a lot after finishing the anime. so overall, what i love so much about kimi ni todoke is the warmth of all the characters and all the simple, yet adorable moments that make you go like:
