Kyoukai No Kanata Finished

Kyoukai No Kanata Finished

I just recently Finished KyoAni’s latest Show Kyoukai no Kanata and There are a lot of things that run through my mind as I think deeper…

The show was actually quite good on the first 4 epsiodes… Never to mention that the coming of a strong opponent was really handled well and the direction was flowing smooth so to speak.

On

My problem started when episode 5 kicks in… Everything comes to a sudden slowdown… and that ended on the episode 8 where things got a bit good in pacing.

The last 4 episodes are quite good but not considered to be called a masterpiece, though there are few things that I actually liked especially the last part of episode 11, where Akihito Jumped A huge distance just to get his old self and be Reunited with Kuriyama Mirai.

1. The pacing for the first 4 episodes are superb(though the entry of Sakura made me curious on why did she appear on that time.) It was really a top-tier month

2. The Animation Quality was of course Great(as expected from KyoAni), and art department realy had the heart to make this quite good even when they are not on action episodes.

3. I think Hiroomi is the most developed character in this show(despite having to flaunt his sis-con tendencies when it’s joke time). In my observation, I think he is actually the only one that really grew a lot(next was Mitsuki though who had a rather good late character development).

1. I think the show never cleared on many things as the show progresses, like who is Akihito on the eyes of her Mother? What is he really? Why is that Miroku guy so obsessed with Isumi, are they lovers? or Rivals?, Who is Akihito’s dad? does Akihito had an Imouto? Was the ‘calm’ happens under a periodic cycle or it’s a signal that the awakening of Kyoukai no Kanata? Why did Mirai came back? Act of God? or Fate… because the Kyoukai no Kanata resides in Akihito’s body once more?, Etc…

2. Probably Episode 6 was the craziest episode that I’ll ever thought of… But no Offense I liked it, But in terms of relevance to the story… I can say it’s a filler or a Fanservice Episode(no Beach Episode in this one).

3. Sakura’s side story is good, but It lacked the fierceness, It lacked grudge… truly, Sakura was a bit confused in this one.

4. Mirai and Akihito’s chemistry is like oil and water… they never mix, Unless I knew why he keeps on Pestering Mirai on how Beautiful she was when she wear her glasses… I’ll never ask this question.

MAL Scoring: 9 (a Bit High for It still had the awesomeness of the last part of episode 11 and the continuation of 12.)

My Rating: B+ (effort and Quality animation, Should had been a A- if the ending was even better and there are lot of questions answered before the end)

Laid-back brother Hiroomi, the clumsy but strong Mirai, and lastly, the kind man with the glasses fetish, Akihito. They really made it clear in this anime who the side and main characters were, but I think that’s part of what disappointed me. As much as I enjoy an honest story with a clear “

” sign, I was also very interested in the lives of Mitsuki and Hiroomi. Even in the anime, when we don’t get to know much of what’s happening in the background of the character’s lives, Mitsuki (Mirai in the following) states that “We’re all alone.” Which is basically a clear declaration of how I feel the anime is outside of Mirai and Akihito.

Art (10/10): I really liked the artwork of this anime, I always notice this Artist because of how expressive the characters are drawn. Any artist that can draw an expression that speaks as loud as words I think is very skilled

Plot (7/10): I feel that this anime started somewhere in the middle of it’s plot. It starts off realistically (a little bit like Shakugan no Shana) like its a plot that’s just beginning. But then suddenly we’re shoved into an abnormal world full of Mirai and Youmu where even Akihito seems surprised – and yet he shouldn’t – since he himself is part of that crazy youmu world – and then it turns out half of the world seems to be involved with the youmu! Well boy did that plot escalate confusingly fast! I don’t know if it was only me who noticed this?? I also felt that the “bad guy” wasn’t that clear on his intention besides an egotistical, “

Pace (8/10) & Mood (8/10): I think the anime was pretty well-paced. There were some fun missions in between, comedial, dramatic, serious, and romantic moments. Things gradually became intense by the end of the anime – and even tragic – but overall the anime was well-lengthened. I think if it got another season it would have been perfect as there would’ve been more space for a “bad-guy” plot.

Extra: I do give cudos to the ending song – I find that the melody really suited the ending of each episode and gave off a “sweet” vibe regardless of the emotion in that moment. +1Alright, KyoAni. Let’s do this. There’ve been stumbles in the past, crippling, foundation-withering stumbles, but these last two episodes have been pretty goddamn kickass. Last episode’s finale in particular was a real standout sequence – if you build on that, you can at least make a respectable landing. This show ultimately failed to be the show I was looking for, but… but goddamnit, it’s still a show! Let’s finish strong.

Kyoukai

1:05 – Is… is there anyone out there who finds stuff like this funny,  or endearing, or anything other than an enormously tonally inappropriate non-gag that’s basically there to scream “better not take this story too seriously! It’s still a stupid anime designed to cater to nonsense sensibilities!”

How I Did Kuriyama Mirai (kyoukai No Kanata)'s Idol Costume

1:37 – It’s like the voice of the moe half of the show is actively arguing with the fantasy/romance half. Some of us like drama with real characters!

get away with here – a half-bitter quip to lighten an awful mood is a lot more understandable than Akihito’s mom putting on a bunny suit while he gets murdered by a youmu

3:15 – You know what, just have your fun KyoAni. I don’t know what mood you’re going for, or if you realize dramatic tension is incompatible with continuous gags, but clearly you’re having a good time

4:22 – I really couldn’t say. It’s one of the more obvious complaints about this show, but its battle scenes very rarely convey any weight or actual back-and-forth – sometimes they’re given weight by their emotional underpinnings, and sometimes they’re just very pretty, but they’re almost never compelling as action/drama in a “oh shit, he’s winning! no wait, now he’s on the ropes! I can tell because I understand what’s happening and what implies winning or on the ropes!” kind of way. Is Beyond the Boundary that powerful? Well, the show

Incidentally, this is actually an extremely common problem – very few shows manage to make fights that really feel like a visual argument the viewer can follow, and most shows that

is what Kyoukai often attempts to do – make a fight more a visual expression of an emotional revelation or plot turn, so the action is basically just a representation of your existing investment, and not something that needs to gripping in the way a good sparring match is gripping

4:48 – Still kind of in love with this guy. It’s obviously not good storytelling to have someone who just represents “evil, ” but it sure is funny

It’s like it tries to take itself seriously for ten seconds, and then cracks up and makes a joke at its own expense. It is frikkin surreal

Kyoto Animation's Most Underappreciated Anime

8:17 – The banter between these two is actually adorable. It feels like they have strong, legitimate chemistry at this point – it’s just odd that they’re cracking jokes as if they’re standing outside the current narrative being snarky about it

13:29 – That’s our Mirai! Man, has there ever been more of a “random shit happening” finale than this? First the hollow reality, then a moped chase to… get to the high ground?, then instrumentality, and now we’re back to fighting random monsters, while outside big sis deals with her sudden youmu-harboring inferiority complex, and all the while there’s basically no coherent tension and a bunch of random jokes and man oh
